Singer of many hits in the 1940s and 50s, including "That's My Desire," "Mule Train," and "Ghost Riders in the Sky." Starting as a jazz singer, he found his greatest success in country music; in addition to radio hits, he was featured on the soundtracks of many Westerns, and starred in several musicals. He also recorded the theme songs for Rawhide and Blazing Saddles.
