Keyboardist and leader of the Funk Brothers who helped invent the Motown Sound, playing backup on four-fifths of all Motown recordings in the 1960s and early 1970s. He produced hits for artists including Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross and the Supremes, the Four Tops, and the Jackson 5.
