Richardson's development has saved the lives of millions around the world by treating transplant recipients, burn victims, chemotherapy patients, AIDS patients, and others. Born in England, Richardson worked in a lab during the day and took night classes for chemistry Trent Polytechnic to earn his B.S. He went on to earn his Ph.D. from the University of Nottingham.
