Phyllis A. Whitney was a best-selling author of romantic mystery, young-adult, and children's mystery novels, who published books until she was 94 years old. Whitney published her first book in 1941 entitled "A Place for Ann." During her life, she wrote close to 75 novels, several books on writing, and many short stories for magazines. Whitney sold millions of copies of her books, which were full of cliffhangers and translated into 30 languages. In 1988, she received a lifetime achievement award from the Mystery Writers of America.
