Soupy Sales perfected the art of slapstick comedy, and received thousands of pies to the face during his career. Born Milton Supman, he was nicknamed "Soupy" as a child, when neighbors mispronounced his last name as "Soupman" and then later shortened it. Sales starred in a variety of television shows, including "The Soupy Sales Show" and "Lunch With Soupy," and was considered an icon to children, teens, and young adults in the 1960's. He died on October 22, 2009 at the age of 83.
