HOPKINS, Albert Cole, a Representative from Pennsylvania; born in Villanovia, near Jamestown, Chautauqua County, N.Y., September 15, 1837; attended the public schools; was graduated from Alfred University, Alfred, N.Y.; taught school; engaged in mercantile pursuits in Troy, Pa., where he remained until 1867; moved to Lock Haven, Clinton County, Pa., and engaged in the lumber business; elected as a Republican to the Fifty-second and Fifty-third Congresses (March 4, 1891-March 3, 1895); was not a candidate for renomination in 1894; resumed lumber manufacturing pursuits; State forestry commissioner 1899-1904; died in Lock Haven, Pa., June 9, 1911; interment in Highland Cemetery.
