OAKEY, Peter Davis, a Representative from Connecticut; born in East Millstone, Somerset County, N.J., February 25, 1861; attended the public schools and the high school of Millstone, N.J.; moved to Hartford, Conn., in 1886 and engaged in mercantile pursuits; member of the city council 1891-1894; city alderman in 1894 and 1895; collector of city taxes of Hartford in 1894 and 1895; member of the Connecticut National Guard 1895-1901; city assessor 1900-1915; elected as a Republican to the Sixty-fourth Congress (March 4, 1915-March 3, 1917); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1916 to the Sixty-fifth Congress; died in New Haven, Conn., November 18, 1920; interment in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford, Conn.
