Don DeLillo is a New York novelist whose books include the critical and popular successes White Noise (1985), Libra (1988) and Underworld (1997). Raised by Italian immigrants in the Bronx, DeLillo graduated from Fordham University in 1958 and spent the first few years of his career in the advertising business. He published his first novel in 1971 (Americana), and has since earned a reputation as one of the best novelists in modern American literature.
