Jason KiddBasketball Player
Born: 23 March 1973
Birthplace: San Francisco, California
Best known as: Point guard for the NBA's Dallas Mavericks
Jason Kidd went to the University of California at Berkeley for two years before joining the NBA as a point guard for the Dallas Mavericks in 1994, where he ended up as Co-Rookie of the Year (tied with Grant Hill). In 1996 he was traded to the Phoenix Suns, and in 2001 he was traded to the New Jersey Nets. An Olympic gold medalist (2000) and nine-time All-Star, Kidd has consistently been a league leader in assists and triple-doubles. He returned to the Dallas Mavericks as point guard in 2008, after being traded by New Jersey.
Kidd was arrested in January 2001 after a domestic dispute with his wife, Joumana Kidd. Kidd reached an agreement with the court that included counseling and anger management training… Kidd filed for divorce from Joumana in January of 2007, citing “extreme cruelty” toward him and their three children. She filed a countersuit a month later, also claiming abuse. To expedite proceedings under New Jersey’s no-fault divorce laws, Kidd amended his complaint and cited “irreconcilable differences” instead of cruelty.
