Mike Krzyzewski

Best known as: Longtime basketball coach at Duke University
"Coach K" is a fixture at Duke University, where he has coached the men's basketball team to three national championships since 1980. Krzyzewski played basketball at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, from which he graduated in 1969. He served in the Army until 1974, spent a year as an assistant coach at Indiana University (1974-75), and returned to West Point as head coach in 1975. He became head coach at Duke University in 1980 and quickly built the school into a perennial basketball powerhouse. The Blue Devils won NCAA championships in 1991, 1992 and 2001 while also winning 10 regular-season championships in the highly competitive Atlantic Coast Conference. His star players at Duke have included Christian Laettner, Danny Ferry, Grant Hill and Shane Battier. Krzyzewski was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2001.
