Miranda Lambert is a Grammy-winning country singer whose hit songs include "Gunpowder & Lead" and "The House That Built Me." Miranda Lambert began her professional career when she was a teenager, belting out rock-oriented country songs in Texas bars. Her big break came when she performed as a contestant on the TV show Nashville Star in 2003; Lambert placed third, but she also landed a record deal in Nashville. Co-writing most of her songs, Lambert crafted a feisty image to go along with her mature twang and torrent of blonde hair. The combination worked: her debut album, Kerosene, spawned hit singles throughout 2005, including "Me And Charlie Talking" and "Kerosene." Her follow-up, 2007's Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, entered the country charts at number one and included the hit songs "Famous in a Small Town" and "Gunpowder & Lead." The Academy of Country Music named it the album of the year and then named Lambert the top new female vocalist of 2007. Her third album, 2009's Revolution, was another hit upon release and included the singles "White Liar" and "The House That Built Me," the 2010 Grammy winner for best female vocal performance. Lambert started 2011 touring as a headliner while Revolution was still a hot-selling critical favorite, and in April she was named the Academy of Country Music's top female singer, beating out Lee Ann Womack, Carrie Underwood, and Taylor Swift. She was, in fact, named the ACM's top female vocalist four straight times, from 2010-2013. She released a new studio album, Four The Record, late in 2011. Her side project, the Pistol Annies -- a group including Lambert, Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley -- also released the album Hell on Heels in 2011.
