Rachel Bloom is the star and co-creator of the musical comedy TV series Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. She grew up in California and studied drama in New York, where she polished her skills at improvisational comedy and took classes with the Upright Citizens Brigade. Rachel Bloom's first break came after her 2010 music video, an adult-themed parody that paid tribute to science fiction author Ray Bradbury. The video marked what would be her comedy niche, musical satire. She followed with two comedy albums in 2013, Please Love Me and Suck It, Christmas. With an assist from screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna (The Devil Wears Prada), Rachel Bloom made the pilot for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend in 2015 and the show was picked up for television by The CW network. Rachel Bloom won a Golden Globe in 2016 for her performance as best actress in a musical or comedy series.
