Selena Gomez is the dark-eyed former Disney Channel star who moved on to become a grown-up pop singer and actress. Selena Gomez was a kiddie regular on the TV show Barney and Friends (along with Demi Lovato) from 2001-03 before being pulled into the Disney orbit of teen stars, where at first she took her place as a lesser planet. She made guest appearances on the Disney shows The Suite Life of Zack and Cody (2006) and Hanna Montana (2007, with Miley Cyrus). In 2007 Disney gave Gomez her own show, Wizards of Waverly Place, a lighthearted sitcom about a family whose three kids are magic-wielding wizards. Selena Gomez starred in the 2009 TV movie Princess Protection Program, and that same year (as part of the band Selena Gomez & The Scene) released her debut album, Kiss & Tell. She released her first solo album, Stars Dance, in 2013; its lead single "Come & Get It" was her first top-1o hit in the United States. Her 2015 follow-up album Revival featured the single "Good For You." Along with her TV and musical projects, Gomez became known as a steady pal to her fellow Barney star Demi Lovato and later to pop superstar Taylor Swift. She also starred with Nat Wolff in the 2014 film comedy Behaving Badly.

She attended the 2011 Oscars with Justin Bieber, and their on-again, off-again romance became a favorite of the gossip columns for the next few years… Selena Gomez was born in New York but spent most of her youth in Grand Prairie, Texas.
