The son of wealthy publisher Malcolm Forbes, Steve Forbes graduated from Princeton in 1970 and joined the family business, eventually becoming president and editor-in-chief of Forbes Magazine. In 1996 Forbes entered the GOP presidential primaries, with his family fortune giving him instant political credibility. He lost the nomination to Bob Dole. In 2000 he ran again, and was beaten for the nomination by eventual president George W. Bush.
