Crespin, RégineCrespin, Régine (rāzhēn' krespăN') [key], 1927–2007, French soprano. She made her debut at the Paris Opéra in 1950. The range, flexibility, and richness of her voice were critically acclaimed after her performance as Kundry in Wagner's Parsifal at Bayreuth in 1958. In 1962 she made her American debut at the Metropolitan Opera, singing the Marschallin in Richard Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier. The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia, 6th ed.
