Driver, Samuel Rolles

Driver, Samuel Rolles, 1846–1914, English clergyman and biblical scholar. He was regius professor of Hebrew and canon of Christ Church, Oxford, and from 1876 to 1884 was a member of the Old Testament Revision Committee. His chief work is his Introduction to the Literature of the Old Testament (1891). He collaborated with C. A. Briggs and Francis Brown in preparing A Hebrew and English Lexicon of the Old Testament (completed 1906).
