Fischer, Edmond H.Fischer, Edmond H., 1920–, American biologist, b. Shanghai, China. As researchers at the Univ. of Washington in Seattle, Fischer and Edwin G. Krebs discovered a biological regulatory mechanism, reversible protein phosphorylation, that affects nearly all human cells.
