Giusti, GiuseppeGiusti, Giuseppe (jOOzep'pā jOOs'tē) [key], 1809–50, Italian satirical poet. He directed his original and ironic polemics against Austrian rule and also attacked demagoguery and graft. The idiomatic Tuscan of his verse and its contemporary character attracted a wide audience but have detracted from its lasting popularity. The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia, 6th ed.
