Judd, Orange

Judd, Orange, 1822–92, American agricultural editor and publisher, b. near Niagara Falls, N.Y., grad. Wesleyan Univ., 1847. At Wesleyan he built (1871) the Orange Judd Hall of Natural Science and secured through his gifts the establishment of the first agricultural experiment station in the country. He became in 1853 joint editor and owner of the American Agriculturist, which he made into one of the leading farm papers of the country.
