Trudeau, Garry Beekman

Trudeau, Garry Beekman (trOO'dō) [key], 1948–, American political cartoonist, b. New York City. Since its debut in 1969, his comic strip “Doonesbury” has satirized contemporary events, personalities, and lifestyles, and many newspapers run the comic strip on the editorial page. He won a Pulitzer prize in 1975 for editorial cartooning. In 1983, he coauthored a stage version of the comic strip.
