Geshur

Geshur (gē'shur) [key]or Geshuri (gesh'yOOrī, geshyOO'rī) [key], in the Bible. 1. Small Aramaic kingdom that remained in the territory allotted to Manasseh. It occupied barren land NE of the Sea of Galilee. After the division of Israel, it became a part of the Aramaic kingdom of Damascus. A daughter of one of its kings married David and was the mother of Absalom. See Aram 1. 2. Aboriginal people in Philistia.
