Succoth

Succoth sŭkˈŏth [key], in the Bible. 1 City, ancient Palestine, E of the Jordan, by the Jabbok River, where Jacob paused on his return to his native land. Through it Gideon passed in pursuit of the Midianites. It is the modern Tell Deir Alla (Jordan). Psalm 60 refers to the Valley of Succoth. 2 Place, Egypt, where the Israelites made their first camp on their exodus.
