Pampa

Pampa pămˈpə [key], city (1990 pop. 19,959), seat of Gray co., extreme N Tex. This cow town on the Panhandle plains still ships cattle and wheat and packs meat, but the discovery of oil and gas has made it an industrial center with refineries and other oil-based industries. Oil-drilling machinery and chemicals are also manufactured in Pampa.
