Balikpapan

Balikpapan bäˈlēkpäˈpän [key], city, E Borneo (Kalimantan), Indonesia, on an inlet of Makasar Strait. An important seaport and oil center with refineries, it is connected by pipeline with the oil fields of Samarinda. Timber is also exported.
