Bandar-e Imam KhomeiniBandar-e Imam Khomeini (bän'där-ā ē'mäm khō"mānē') [key], town (1991 est. pop. 56,998), Khuzestan prov., SW Iran, a port at the head of the Persian Gulf. It is the southern terminus of the Trans-Iranian Railway, which runs to the Caspian Sea. The town was formerly known as Bandar-e Shahpur. The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia, 6th ed.
