Bebington

Bebington bĕbˈĭngtən [key], town, Wirral metropolitan district, W central England. Its frontage on the Mersey River is part of the Port of Liverpool. Bebington, a suburb in the Liverpool metropolitan area, includes Bromborough and Eastham, both of great antiquity, and Port Sunlight, an industrial area with soap, detergent, and edible oil and fat factories. Bebington also manufactures chemicals and margarine. The Church of St. Andrew, on a site occupied since Saxon times, dates from the 14th and 16th cent. There are ancient freestone quarries, now no longer worked.
