Bharuch

Bharuch bəro͞oˈchə, –rōchˈ [key], formerly Broach, city, Gujarat state, W India, on the Gulf of Khambat. A port at the mouth of the Narmada River, Bharuch ships cotton, wheat, and timber and manufactures textiles, ink, and glass. Bharuch was an important Buddhist center in the 7th cent. Under the Rajput dynasty (750–1300), it was the chief port of W India.
