Bohai

Bohai or Po Hai both: pôˈhīˈ [key], arm of the Yellow Sea, indenting the coast of N China; bordered by Shandong, Hebei, and Liaoning provs. and Tianjin Municipality; the Liaodong Gulf is its northeast extension. The Huang He (Yellow River) empties into the Bohai. Dalian, Yingkou, and Tianjin are major ports. Petroleum deposits are located in the Bohai, which was formerly called the Gulf of Chihli (Zhili).
