Clwyd, former county, Wales

Clwyd klo͝oˈĭd [key], former county, N Wales, created in 1974 from Flintshire and parts of Denbighshire and Merionethshire. It was dissolved in 1996 and divided among the unitary authorities of Flintshire, Denbighshire, Wrexham, Conwy, and Powys.
