Otaru

Otaru (ōtä'rOO) [key], city (1990 pop. 163,211), SW Hokkaido, Japan, on Ishikari Bay. A major port and Hokkaido's main commercial and industrial center, Otaru is the site of the Asarigawa Spa and the Otaru Aquarium.
