Samuel Colcord BartlettBartlett, Samuel Colcord, 1817–98, American Congregational clergyman and educator, b. Salisbury, N.H., grad. Dartmouth College, 1836. He studied at Andover Theological Seminary and was ordained in 1843. He was professor (1858–77) of biblical literature and sacred theology at the Chicago Theological Seminary and from 1877 to 1892 was president of Dartmouth.
