Washington Charles De PauwDe Pauw, Washington Charles (dĭpôˈ) [key], 1822–87, American manufacturer, b. Salem, Ind. At first successful at banking, he later established a plate-glass works at New Albany, Ind., which became one of the largest plants in the country.
