Duris of SamosDuris of Samos (dōˈrĭs) [key], fl. 3d cent. B.C., Greek historian. A descendent of Alcibiades, Duris was tyrant of Samos for a time. He wrote Samian Chronicle —a history of Samos—and a rambling history of Greece and Macedonia covering most of the 4th cent. B.C. and the early years of the 3d cent. B.C.
