Mysuru

Mysuru, formerly Mysore mīsôrˈ [key], city (2011 provisional pop. 887,446), Karnataka state, S India. Mysore is an industrial, commercial, and educational center whose products include silk saris, textiles, leather, chemical goods, and cigarettes. Tourism is also an important industry. The city was the capital of the princely state of Mysore for more than five centuries, and many magnificent palaces remain.
