Hallandale

Hallandale (hălˈəndālˌ) [key], city (1990 pop. 30,996), Broward co., SE Fla., on the Atlantic coast and the Intracoastal Waterway; settled 1897, inc. 1927. A retirement center, it is especially popular with French Canadians. Horse and greyhound racetracks are major sources of employment; Gulf Stream Park is the site of the annual Florida Derby.
