Hillsdale

Hillsdale, <1> City (2020 pop. 7,927), seat of Hillsdale co., SE Mich.; est. 1839. Boosted by the opening of the railroad, the area became a tourist thanks to nearby Baw Beese Lake. Hillsdale College is located there (est. 1853), the first college to ban discrimination based on race, religion, or sex. <2> Borough (2020 pop. 10,143), Bergen co., NE N.J.; inc. 1923. It is primarily residential.
