IntroductionLouisiana (ləwēˌzēănˈə, lōēˌ–) [key], state in the S central United States. It is bounded by Mississippi, with the Mississippi R. forming about half of the border (E), the Gulf of Mexico (S), Texas (W), and Arkansas (N).
