Introduction

Antarctica (ăntärkˈtĭkə, –ärˈtĭkə) [key], the fifth largest continent, c.5,500,000 sq mi (14,245,000 sq km), asymmetrically centered on the South Pole and almost entirely within the Antarctic Circle.
