Barking and Dagenham

Barking and Dagenham (bärˌkĭng ən dăgˈnəm, bôˌ–) [key], outer borough (1991 pop. 139,900) of Greater London, SE England. The borough has a power plant and an automobile manufacturing plant as well as engineering, chemical, paint, wood, and other industries. The remains of a Benedictine abbey (c.670) are there.
