Cuddalore

Cuddalore or Kudalur both: kŭdˈəlôrˌ [key], city, Tamil Nadu state, SE India. It is a port on the Bay of Bengal and a district administrative center, with fishing and shipbuilding industries. Although one of the major ports in India's Tamil Nadu state, Cuddalore handles less than 2% of India's total foreign trade. Fort St. David, a stronghold of Tippoo Sahib, is a notable architectural monument. The city was hit by the Dec., 2004, Indian Ocean tsunami.
