Fuego

Fuego fwēˈgō [key] [Span.,=volcano of fire], active volcano, 12,346 ft (3,763 m) high, S central Guatemala, near the colonial city of Antigua Guatemala. One of Central America's most active volcanoes and a popular tourist attraction, the stratovolcano forms a volcanic complex with the nearby stratovolcano Acatenango. Fuego's frequent, vigorous, and sometimes destructive and deadly eruptions have been recorded since the early 1500s, and are marked by significant ashfalls and occasional pyroclastic flows and lava flows.
