Henry of Huntingdon

Henry of Huntingdon, d. 1155, English chronicler, archdeacon of Huntingdon. His Historia Anglorum is important not because it gives many new facts but because it was much used by later writers. It is based on Bede and the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle for the earlier period but is original work for the years 1126–54. The Historia Anglorum was translated by Thomas Forester (1853, repr. 1968).
