Ishinomaki

Ishinomaki (ēshēˈnōmäkē) [key], city (1990 pop. 121,976), Miyagi prefecture, N Honshu, Japan, on Ishinomaki Bay. It is a commercial and fishing port and a center for marine product processing and paper manufacturing. The city suffered extensive destruction and flooding as a result of the tsunami caused by the 2011 NE Honshu earthquake.
