Jonquière

Jonquière zhôNkyĕrˈ [key], city (1991 pop. 57,933), S Que., Canada, on the Saguenay River, W of Chicoutimi. Its chief industries produce paper, pulp, and aluminum. The city was reincorporated in 1976, when it absorbed the surrounding cities of Arvida and Kénogami and the municipality of Saint-Dominique-de-Jonquière. Jonquière has a college and a school of technology.
