JuchitánJuchitán (hōchētänˈ) [key] or Juchitán de Zaragoza hōchētänˈ ħā särägōˈsä, town (1990 pop. 53,666), Oaxaca state, S Mexico. Located on the Juchitán River in a vast expanse of flat, fertile plain only slightly above sea level, the old town rivals Tehuantepec (20 mi/ 32 km to the east) as the cultural center of the Zapotec.
