Köping

Köping (chöˈpĭngˌ) [key], city (1990 pop. 18,850), Västmanland co., S central Sweden, at the western end of Lake Mälaren. It is an important lake port and a commercial and industrial center. Manufactures include machinery, textiles, and cement. It was the site of the strong Köpingshus fortress, destroyed in 1434.
