Louvière, La

Louvière, La (lä lōvyârˈ) [key], commune (1991 pop. 76,432), Hainaut prov., S Belgium. It was an industrial center of the Bassin du Centre coal-mining region but has changed its economic focus since the coal mines ceased producing.
