Pernambuco

Pernambuco (pərnəmbōˈkŏ) [key], state (1991 pop. 7,127,855), 37,946 sq mi (98,280 sq km), NE Brazil, on the Atlantic Ocean. The capital is Recife (also called Pernambuco).
