Prilep

Prilep prēˈlĕp [key], city (1994 pop. 71,899), North Macedonia. It is the trade center of an agricultural region and a manufacturing city where tobacco, textiles, wine, and fruit are produced. Prilep was a residence of Stephen Dušan as well as the birthplace of 14th-century Serbian hero Marko Kraljevič, parts of whose castle still stand. The city also has several medieval churches and monasteries.
