Taoyuan

Taoyuan or T'ao-yuan both: touˈywänˈ [key], special municipality (2010 pop. 2,190,342), N Taiwan. It was created in 2014 from Taoyuan co.; Taoyuan city became a district within the new municipality. The county was formerly primarily a rich agricultural area, and the city its market center for local produce as well as high-technology center and a regional distribution center for other goods, but both have seen significant population growth as suburbs of the Taipei metropolitan area.
